About Hilary McDonald

HR, Talent and Learning & Development Specialist

Making a difference to individuals, teams and organisations is what makes me get out of bed in the morning.  I love those moments when a delegate shows that they have made a behaviour shift or tells me how they have applied their learning in their role or when a client shows their excitement about partnering on the delivery of a solution that gets to the heart of their organisation’s needs.

Outside of work I fill up my life with my two teenage boys and a lively rescue dog, voluntary work as Chair of Governors of the village primary school, fundraising events for school and village, walking with friends and relaxing with a glass of wine (time permitting!!).

I am a Human Resources and People Development specialist with a background in FMCG. I enjoy consulting across not-for-profit, public sector, IT, SME and blue chip organisations, which allows me to develop ideas and bring learning from different cultures and contexts.

Extensive HR, talent and learning and development experience enables me to create and develop solutions that span from HR tool and process development through to workshop design and facilitation, always with a keen business focus and the commercial skills to deliver sustainable results.

Finding different and pragmatic ways of delivering solutions, by really understanding the business context or the individual need, is core to my approach.

I have strong facilitation, effective influencing and communication skills and a passion for supporting and enabling individuals and teams to perform to their full potential.

My portfolio includes a wide range of private and public sector companies, including:

Birds Eye Foods, Cadbury Schweppes, Camelot (National Lottery), CocaCola Enterprises, Hertfordshire NHS Trusts, Norland Managed Services, UK Sport, Youth Sport Trust and various Secondary Schools amongst many others.
